What is a Gong Bath Meditation?
Gong baths are used for meditation, relaxation, stress relief and sometimes pain relief.
During a gong bath, you will lie down and get comfortable with blankets and pillows. I then play the gongs and other instruments to allow you to relax and ‘bathe’ in the sounds and vibrations, hence the term gong bath.
Gong bath meditation, like all types of sound therapy, allow your brain to relax into an alpha-dominant or theta-dominant brainwave state where your brain can ‘download’ or process what has been going on in your life. often this allows you to process emotions and thoughts and to deal with them leaving you in a calm and happy state. People often have a great sleep following a gong bath.
If you have never tried one why not give it a go you will soon find your are ‘hooked’!
Gong baths are generally safe for most people but if you are in any doubt contact your doctor to check. People who are pregnant, experience epilepsy or seizures, or have a diagnosed mental health condition should check with their primary care provider before taking part in gong baths. Gong baths may cause discomfort in people with hearing aids or hearing impairment.
