2024 Roundup

2024 was a hectic year for me not just with fertility but family as well with grandchildren growing up and the welcome news of another grandchild on the way after I supported her with some issues.  And wouldn’t you know it it’s another boy! We will now have 4 grandsons and she is due any day now so we are crossing everything that all goes well!

Earlier in the year I made a decision to concentrate solely on fertility with my business and it turned out to be the right decision as I was getting stressed trying to fit everything in and not succeeding at that.  I had 12 babies born and 16 girls with viable pregnancies who are doing very well. I did have a couple of losses this year which was a first for me, up to that point I had a 100% record of successes.  They were very early chemical pregnancies and both me and the girls were absolutely devastated as you can imagine.  But they are continuing to fight for their fertility and we are hoping that 2025 will see them get their miracle.

I also learn something new with each girl I work with, one of the biggest learning points was to check if a warmed embryo has expanded fully, one of the girls found out by a fluke conversation that her embryo hadn’t expanded but they put it back anyway which lead to it not implanting.  The clinic was apparently running some research to see what happens with these embryos and to date it looks like there’s a high chance of failure with them.  It’s always worth asking the question before they put it back in, not that you wouldn’t give it a try at that stage but at least your expectations would be managed better.  She has now had another implantation which had expanded fully and we are nearly at the 12 week mark so crossing everything right now.
